On the Mirror, former player John Barnes revealed Virgil van Dijk advised Jurrien Timber to move to Anfield amid his association with Manchester United.
The former England international said: “Of course, I know that he played alongside Van Dijk in the Dutch national team and according to the latest rumours, Van Dijk has told him he has to go to Anfield. “He’s a good player and therefore will be a good asset to Liverpool. Virgil is over 30 and he won’t be with the club forever.”
The Dutch midfielder clearly played a convincing role when Cody Gakpo joined Liverpool in the January transfer window despite the striker being linked with a move to Old Trafford. That can be repeated again with Timber.

Liverpool is also said to be interested in the 21-year-old central defender, who accompanied and played alongside Van Dijk at the 2022 World Cup. Van Dijk is one of the best central defenders in football over the years but is not young, The The Reds will need to think of alternatives.
Joe Gomez’s poor form and constant injuries make him an unreliable choice at center back in the long run. Jurrien Timber would be their logical choice.
