Ten Hag: “MU is not ready for the match against Sevilla”

Coach Ten Hag criticized the attitude of Man United players when they were beaten 3-0 by Sevilla in the second leg of the Europa League quarter-final.

Man United are the better team to start this match when taking a 2-0 lead in the first leg. However, this advantage was quickly blown away with an own goal late in the game at Old Trafford. As a result, MU had to march to Sevilla with only a draw in the first leg.

Ten Hag: MU not ready for the match against Sevilla

Harry Maguire’s mistake made MU conceded at the beginning of the match. In the second half, De Gea’s mistake helped Sevilla win convincingly with a score of 3-0. After the game, coach Ten Hag felt dissatisfied with what he saw from the players.

“Obviously when we make mistakes like that, it’s very difficult to win a football match. Today’s atmosphere has an influence but that cannot be excused. The fans expect us to be able to deal with it. I don’t want to take this as an explanation for mistakes.

We are not calm enough. Once you beat the press, there are huge gaps on the pitch. But we didn’t do it in the first place. The way to do it is already obvious.

Bad decisions are made. We also lost the dispute. Sevilla is a team with more passion, determination and a ready attitude. Take for example the second goal. Then it is very difficult to win this match.

We showed a lot of good performances and good wins. But today and a few other cases, we were not ready for the game and that cannot happen. When you get to this level and play for Manchester United you have to be ready for every game.

This is a good chance, a quarter-final match in the European Cup to win something. But then we threw it away. We have to blame ourselves.”
