PSG coach is not in the top 5 best coaches in Ligue 1

PSG coach, Christophe Galtier, was unexpectedly not on the list of candidates for the Ligue 1 Coach of the Year award.

The French Footballers’ Association (UNFP) has just announced the list of 5 coaches nominated for the best coach award in Ligue 1 2022/23. PSG coach Christophe Galtier is not named despite  his team leading the Ligue 1 table with 81 points from 35 matches .

The coaches present in the list of nominees of the UNFP are Paulo Fonseca (LOSC), Pascal Gastien (Clermont), Franck Haise (Lens), Philippe Montanier (Toulouse), Igor Tudor (OM).

Onze Mondial said that Christophe Galtier’s predecessor, coach Mauricio Pochettino, was also not on the list of UNFP votes last year. For two years in a row, PSG ‘s coaches have been absent from the UNFP nomination, although the Paris team always leads the Ligue 1 rankings. Coach  Christophe Galtier won the Ligue 1 title in the 2020/21 season with Lille. The 56-year-old leader then moved to Nice before joining PSG in the summer of 2022. At PSG, Mr. Christophe Galtier won the 2022 French Super Cup (Trophee des Champions). Currently, Christophe Galtier and his students are aiming for the Ligue 1 championship.

Elsewhere, two PSG players, Mbappe and Messi, are both on the UNFP’s list of the best Ligue 1 player nominations this season along with Lois Openda (Lens), Seko Fofana (Lens) and Jonathan David (Lens).
