As close teammates, Neymar sent his best wishes to Lionel Messi when the Argentine superstar found a new destination.
Last week, Messi announced he would join Inter Miami when his contract with PSG expires. Sharing about the decision of his longtime teammate, Neymar said: “I am sure that Leo will change the American professional football league. I believe the tournament will become more popular. Everyone needs to enjoy Leo playing because nothing lasts forever.”
Lionel Messi has received offers to return to his old team Barcelona, or join Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia, but in the end he chose Inter Miami – the American team co-owned by David Beckham.
Sharing about Messi’s departure, Neymar continued: “I feel bittersweet. Leo is one of my best friends, a gift from football. I had the opportunity to meet and compete with Leo and build a beautiful friendship. I knew Leo wanted to go to Miami and we talked about it.
I told Leo he would be happy there, in terms of lifestyle and football in Miami.”
