According to The Telegraph, Man Utd may face obstacles in the Kim Min-jae deal with actions from Napoli.
Coach Erik ten Hag is keen to sign the Napoli star by activating the contract’s release clause. Kim Min-jae played a key role this season, helping Napoli win their first Serie A title in more than 30 years.
With United looking for reinforcements for their defence, Ten Hag is said to have made Min-jae a prime target. Newcastle United are also pursuing Min-jae, but the Korean player is said to be more interested in joining Old Trafford.
Many sources said that Man Utd can recruit Min-jae by activating the release clause of less than £ 50 million. However, Man Utd must wait until early July for this plan to take effect.
Therefore, The Telegraph claims there has been no official offer to Napoli. And instead of waiting, Napoli responded to his partner’s interest by offering Min-jae a new contract.
This move will render Min-jae’s current release clause invalid. If the contract offer is accepted, Napoli will be able to increase the price, thereby pushing Man Utd into a difficult situation.
However, there is no sign that Min-jae is ready to sign a new contract. Many reports suggest that the midfielder’s move to Old Trafford is only a matter of time because he has agreed on personal terms with Man Utd .
