MU jumps into the race for Onana with Chelsea

Man United are said to have joined the race to sign goalkeeper Andre Onana along with Chelsea.

De Gea’s contract with Man United expires at the end of June. There are rumors that De Gea has reached an agreement on a two-year contract with Man United, but the two sides have yet to make an official announcement.

Man United are also looking for other options to replace De Gea if necessary. And the “Red Devils” have targeted Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Coach Ten Hag is said to admire Onana very much. The two worked together at Ajax. The Cameroonian goalkeeper plays confidently with his feet and has good ball distribution. He is considered a good replacement for De Gea at Man United, to help the “Red Devils” to deploy the ball from the bottom line.

However, Onana does not have a cheap transfer fee because he has a contract with Inter until 2027. The defending Champions League runner-up will also demand at least £ 70 million for Onana’s signature.

If De Gea leaves Man United, they will go all out to get Onana. If De Gea stays, MU will sell Dean Henderson to Nottingham Forest and recruit a reserve goalkeeper. Anderlecht’s Bart Verbruggen is being targeted.

Man United have activated a one-year contract extension with Tom Heaton. The problem in the goalkeeper position of Man United is generally still unstable.

Man United will face fierce competition from Chelsea for Onana’s signature. In addition, MU’s priority now is still to bring in a striker before moving on to the next goals.
