Edoardo Bove scored the only goal to help Roma beat Bayer Leverkusen 1-0, coach Jose Mourinho was full of praise for this young star.
This morning, Roma had a match against Bayer Leverkusen at home in the first leg of the Europa League semi-final 2022/23. As expected, the match was tight, with only 1 goal scored in the 62nd minute. The goal belonged to the host Roma.
Striker Tammy Abraham’s shot was pushed away by goalkeeper Hradecky, young player Edoardo Bove was present at the right time and hit the net with one touch. Before scoring his first goal in the European Cup, the 20-year-old was also the one who made a brave breakthrough to eliminate two visitors and pass to Abraham.
After the match, coach Jose Mourinho said of Bove’s performance: “The family is behind him, more than Mourinho because he is very educated, intellectually and academically trained. He looks like a 30-year-old professional footballer.”
“Last year he played only a few minutes and this year he has matured a lot. I did my job, helping him grow. But to be like this, he must have a classy family. I believe he will continue to thrive in the coming time.”
Beating Leverkusen means that Roma have won all of the last 7 home matches in the Europa League and kept a clean sheet in 3 of the last 4 matches. They have taken certain advantages before the second leg on German soil.
