Ivan Toney’s suspension will take effect immediately, meaning the Englishman will miss the remaining two Brentford games this season. Those are two big battles with Tottenham and Man City.

Toney will be banned from playing until January 16, 2024. The 27-year-old was also fined £50,000 after admitting he had broken the rules.
An independent commission referred these penalties to Ivan Toney. The England international will not be allowed to train with his team-mates in Brentford until September 17.
Toney is accused of violating article E8 of the law up to 262 times between 2017 and 2021. FA reduced 30 times when Ivan Toney only admitted the violation 232 times.
Ivan Toney still has the right to appeal the FA’s fine. In a statement, Brentford said it was ‘awaiting the written release of the independent committee. We’ll look at it before considering our next steps.”
Toney later also shared on social media that he was disappointed with the punishment, but would not comment until the text was published.
Toney’s sentence only covers English football. This means that if Toney is able to move abroad in the summer, the FA will need to submit a request to FIFA if it wants to expand the scope of the ban globally.
This season, Ivan Toney has played extremely well and has scored up to 33% of Brentford’s goals.
