According to journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic, Man Utd said goodbye to another player this summer.
After the 2022/23 season, Man Utd made a series of confrontations. Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe and many young players such as Ethan Galbraith, Di’Shon Bernard, Eric Hanbury, Charlie Wellens and Manni Norkett were not renewed after their contracts expired.
In addition, the trio of Marcel Sabitzer, Wout Weghorst and Jack Butland were also returned to the host team. However, Man Utd’s purge has not stopped .
Accordingly, Zidane Iqbal is the next name to leave Old Trafford.
Specifically, journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic confirmed: “Man Utd have accepted an offer to sign Zidane Iqbal from FC Utrecht on a permanent transfer.
The deal for the 20-year-old Iraqi midfielder is worth 1 million euros with the clause that Man Utd will receive a significant amount of money when selling Iqbal in the future. The medical examination has been completed with a 4-year contract.”
Iqbal signed his first professional contract in April 2021. He made his first-team debut later that year when he came on as a substitute against Young Boys in the Champions League.
Despite being named in the squad that played 17 times in the 2022/23 season, Iqbal has not played a match under Erik ten Hag. In the summer of 2022, Iqbal played prominently and was considered a phenomenon by the Red Devils when he showed maturity with calm handling.
However, Iqbal did not develop further since then and was sold off by Man Utd. This is also the first sale of players by the Red Devils in the summer of 2023. The previous partings were all contracts expired.
