Gabriel Martinelli is out for the rest of the season

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Arsenal striker Gabriel Martinelli will have to miss the rest of this season after suffering an injury in the loss to Brighton.

Arsenal was disappointed when they lost to Brighton 0-3 at the Emirates Stadium. Accordingly, Julio Enciso, Deniz Undav and Pervis Estupinan scored, making the chance of winning the Premier League out of reach of the Gunners. They are 4 points behind Man City and kick more than 1 match, while the season only has 2 more rounds to end.

Not only losing against Brighton, Arsenal also received a huge loss when Gabriel Martinelli left the field after only 20 minutes. Martinelli was cut down by Moises Caicedo in a destructive fashion. The Arsenal striker suffered severe pain after the collision and was unable to continue playing. Moises Caicedo also did not receive a card from the referee for his foul situation. The Brazilian was replaced by Leandro Trossard.

Gabriel Martinelli out of season due to injury

After the game, Martinelli was even seen walking around the field wearing a protective boot. The latest, David Ornstein confirmed Martinelli’s injury is quite severe. Accordingly, he cannot continue to play in the remaining 2 matches this season.

Thus, Martinelli is the third Arsenal player to leave the season early, after William Saliba and Takehiro Tomiyasu. In the remaining 2 matches of the season Arsenal will face Nottingham Forest and Wolves. When Martinelli is not on the pitch, Leandro Trossard will replace him playing alongside Jesus and Saka.
