With a 3-0 destructive victory over Augsburg, Dortmund only needs to beat Mainz at home in the final round to be crowned the Bundesliga champion.
After Bayern Munich lost 1-3 to RB Leipzig at the Allianz Arena on Saturday, Dortmund understood that they only needed to beat Augsburg to win the right to self-determination in the title race.
Dortmund still had many difficulties as a guest of Augsburg in previous seasons, but today, they completely dominated the game and created many shots towards the home team’s goal.

In the 38th minute, the turning point of the match came when Augsburg midfielder Felix Uduokhai received a direct red card for a foul on Donyell Malen, when the striker had a clear opportunity to score.
Dortmund were unlucky when two shots hit the wood, but in the end, they took the lead in the 58th minute, with Sebastien Haller ‘s close-range shot leaving Tomas Koubek unable to do anything.
In the 84th minute, Haller completed a brace with a rebound after Malen’s blocked shot. Not long after, it was Julian Brandt’s turn to seal a 3-0 victory for Dortmund in injury time.
As such, Dortmund are two points ahead of Bayern Munich and a win next week in their final game of the season at home against Mainz will see them win the Silver Disc for the first time in 11 years.
