Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes Declan Rice will be a better solution for MU than signing Mason Mount.
Erik ten Hag is hoping to upgrade the midfield with new names, with United said to be preparing an offer for Mason Mount, whose contract at Stamford Bridge expires next summer. The English player is said to be keen on a move to Old Trafford.
Declan Rice is also one of MU’s targets, but this deal is more difficult to succeed because Arsenal, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also pursuing the West Ham captain. Latest, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes Declan Rice will be a better solution for MU than signing Mason Mount.
Carragher told Metro.co.uk: “Mason Mount can create competition with Eriksen, but MU is one of the few top teams that doesn’t play 4-3-3, usually two midfield with Bruno Fernandes. I actually think Declan Rice would be a better fit for them. Of course it’s a lot more expensive.”
“I think Mount is a good player and I like him, I want Liverpool to get the midfielder. Many coaches appreciate Mount, they also enjoy working with him. I really believe he will perform at his best when he comes to Liverpool.”
MU is expected to spend 40 to 55 million pounds for Mount but Chelsea are hoping to collect 70 million pounds. The Red Devils believe that the Blues will have to reduce the price of their star, because Mount has only 12 months left on his contract with the London team.
