A series of sources from the British media said that Tottenham club is preparing to make a decision to sack coach Antonio Conte this weekend.
Conte returned to his home country of Italy during the break from the leagues, right after a 10-minute press conference criticizing the club and Tottenham owners. The London team is very angry with this action and will soon make a decision with the 53-year-old coach.
With a contract with only 2 months remaining, ending at the end of the season, many people believe that Conte is doing everything to “get” fired by the club to make compensation. The Telegraph reports, Chairman Daniel Levy will carefully consider and make a decision by the end of this week.
- Richarlison publicly criticized coach Conte
In the event that it is not possible to continue with Antonio Conte, Tottenham will appoint the former Ryan Mason to act as interim caretaker until the end of the season, before finding a new coach next season. Spurs’ top goal is still to secure a place in the Top 4, win tickets to next season’s Champions League. This is not an easy task when Tottenham will have to compete with Newcastle and Liverpool.
Earlier, coach Conte heavily criticized the team: “Tottenham is not a team, just 11 individuals present on the pitch. I only see selfish, strong players who fight and have no enthusiasm. Tottenham have had their owners for 20 years and haven’t won any trophies. It’s easy to play without any pressure on the pitch. It’s the same if they change any coach.”
This has been a difficult season for personal coach Antonio Conte, as he has only just returned to the pitch after a period of treatment, and also lost a close friend. On the Spurs side, their top goal is to focus on winning tickets to the Champions League next season, and need a suitable coach to fight for the Top 4 spot.
