President Joan Laporta said Barca is gradually paying the missing salary of Messi during his time at Camp Nou.

” Barcelona still owes Lionel Messi salary according to the agreement between him and the old management. The money Barcelona owes him will be paid gradually until 2025 ,” Barca’s current president, Joan Laporta confirmed.
Messi has left Barca since 2021. This summer, the Camp Nou host club has a great opportunity to welcome “El Pulga” back, but had to pass it up because it could not solve the outstanding financial difficulties . Messi expressed his disappointment and chose Inter Miami as a destination after parting with PSG.
” I can also reveal that everything is still happening with respect from both sides ,” Laporta added of Barca’s debt to Messi.
According to Mundo Deportivo, only 13 players have been registered by Barca to La Liga for the 2023/24 season, including Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia, Christensen, Pedri, Gavi, Kessie, Frenkie de Jong, Ferran Torres, Ansu Fati, Robert Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha.
This means rookie Gundogan is not eligible to play next season. Similarly, the Catalan club reached an agreement to recruit Inigo Martinez from Atletico Madrid but is waiting for the financial situation to be resolved before it can be announced.
