Arteta’s mistake made Arsenal lose to Man City

On Sky Sports, former player Paul Merson shared about Arsenal’s title race this season.

The Gunners haven’t given up on the championship race. Most recently, the Emirates Stadium team put pressure on title rivals Man City with a 2-0 victory over a very strong Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

Currently, Arsenal is still one point behind Manchester City, the team has one match left with a superior goal difference.

Merson thinks Arteta was wrong when he did not let Jorginho start in the draw with Southampton.

Witnessing what is happening, former player Paul Merson told Sky Sports: “I think Mikel Arteta will learn a lesson from last month. Looking back, Jorginho should have started the match against Southampton.

It was a game that Arsenal simply had to win, not by seven or eight goals, just win. A hindrance, but Jorginho was brought on for a reason.

I think he’ll help keep things tight, make sure Southampton don’t score, and then create chances. I was shocked that Fabio Vieira, who hadn’t had a great season, came on instead of Jorginho, and Arsenal were held to a draw.

Jorginho controls the game. People say he can’t run, but you don’t have to run, his mind is quick. You should have a quick brain rather than quick feet.”
