Arsenal fans vent their anger at the referee

Arsenal fans have reacted furiously to the decision not to show defender Ruben Dias a red card after a bad situation with Ben White.

Goals from Kevin de Bruyne and John Stones gave the Premier League champions a 2-0 lead after 45 minutes of play. In the injury time of the first half, Ruben Dias and Ben White had a fiery collision near the corner post.

Ruben Dias tries to keep the ball as the Arsenal defender closes in. Pressure from White hurt Dias, and then the centre-back retaliated by kicking the Englishman’s calf. Referee Michael Oliver showed Dias a yellow card.

The situation where Dias stepped on Ben White’s leg

VAR referee David Coote did not advise Michael Oliver to show the Portuguese player a red card, and that angered Arsenal fans. One said: “It should be a red card for Dias. It was a kick to White’s leg, an ugly situation.”

Another added: “Why isn’t that a red card for Dias? He deserves it”

The third added: “Ruben Dias kicked White’s calf and got no red card. Incredibly, the referee sided with Man City.”

There were two more melees in the match as Jack Grealish and Thomas Partey rushed each other and each received a yellow card, before Erling Haaland and White clashed in the final minutes.

Man City played better and won 4-1. With this result, the Green Man shortened the gap with Arsenal to 2 points and played less than 2 matches. Pep Guardiola’s team has great advantages in successfully defending the championship. Man City also maintained their efforts to win the treble, they reached the semi-finals of the Champions League against Real Madrid and met MU in the FA Cup final.
